Our Story

Born from a love of
making things by hand

The Craftree was born from a simple conviction: that beautiful objects should be made beautifully — by hands, not machines, and from materials the earth gave us.

We make handcrafted home décor in brass, aluminium, wood, glass and textile. Our first collection brings together two crafts: solid mango-wood joinery and chikankari, the 400-year-old hand embroidery of Lucknow. Fine cotton is embroidered stitch by stitch by artisans who have inherited this tradition across generations, then set under glass in a hand-finished wooden frame — needlework you'd normally keep folded away, turned into something you can use every day.

No machines. No shortcuts. Only hands, patience, and the quiet pride of craft. Every piece honours both the maker and the material.

Why The Craftree

The promise of pure craft

100% Handcrafted

Every tray is shaped, embroidered and assembled entirely by hand. No automation, no shortcuts — just skill passed down through generations.

Eco-friendly materials

Sustainably sourced mango wood, natural cotton and glass. Good for your home, gentle on the earth.

Living craft traditions

Our artisans practise chikankari, a 400-year-old embroidery tradition from Lucknow, keeping an irreplaceable heritage alive and thriving.

How a tray is made

Four pairs of hands

The wood

Solid mango wood — a fast-growing, sustainable hardwood — is seasoned, cut and joined into frames, then sanded smooth and finished by hand.

The fabric

Soft cotton is dyed in gentle, earthy shades — sage, rose, olive — to set off the pale thread-work.

The embroidery

Artisans embroider each panel in traditional chikankari stitches — phanda, bakhiya, keel — flower by flower, over many hours.

The finish

The embroidered panel is stretched, mounted and sealed beneath glass, protecting the stitches for a lifetime of use.

Orders & questions

We're happy to help with orders, gifting, care instructions or anything else.

Caring for your tray

Wipe with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking in water and prolonged direct sunlight. The wood is hand-finished and will develop a gentle patina with age.
